Canadianization of the Oilsands Fosters Moderate, Sustainable Growth

Calgary-based Sproule estimates Canadian companies now operate approximately 70 percent of oilsands production, whereas back in 2013 the majority of high-cost oilsands productions in Canada was owned by foreign entities. The transition to local ownership provides greater opportunity for collaboration, exchange of ideas and sharing of technologies, and alignments of interests possible.

Sproule’s Christoffer Mylde, VP Corporate Development, sat down with Maurice Smith of the Daily Oil Bulletin to discuss benefits for the industry that are emerging from the ownership transition and variables that will allow moderate growth for the oilsands in the coming decade.
