The Position
The successful candidate will have a mandate to help grow Sproule’s Carbon Management practice in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The role will report to the Managing Director, Energy Advisory and be part of a global advisory team, drawing on resources and support from the rest of the organization, as required. The role is anticipated to be an important driver of growth in a rapidly evolving market with significant internal and external visibility. The role will require proactive engagement with internal and external stakeholders with responsibility for both origination and execution of Carbon Management projects, thought leadership, and development of a strong institutional knowledge base with best practices in delivering value to clients.
Responsibilities
The Principal Carbon Management responsibilities include:
- Drive the development of the EMEA consulting and advisory practice in Carbon Management with significant external and internal visibility
- Develop products and advisory services consistent with market opportunities in the Carbon Management space, leveraging and monetizing Sproule’s knowledge base, such as CCUS screening and project development, decarbonization strategies and compliance and voluntary carbon market advisory
- Contribute to executing Carbon Management projects while managing multi-disciplinary project teams
- Engage with clients on emerging industry themes
- Act as a subject matter expert pertaining to the commercial, technical, operational and regulatory aspects of the Carbon Management industry globally
- Provide Carbon Management input to multi-disciplinary projects, such as M&A advisory, reservoir characterization and geothermal
- Monitor Carbon Management industry news, project developments and regulatory updates in EMEA
- Handle special projects, as developed independently or assigned, support recruitment, mentoring and training activities
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (Advanced degree(s) strongly preferred) in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 10 to 20 years relevant work experience with preference to management consulting, advisory or energy industry
- Demonstrated leadership in Carbon Management and/or sustainability

- Knowledgeable on Carbon Management related EU regulations and strategies and has a good understanding of carbon pricing mechanisms
