The Position

Sproule is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Geoscientist to join our global Reservoir Services team in our Mexico City, Mexico office. The position provides the opportunity to build upon your energy resource geoscience experience with exposure to a broad range of clients including exploration and production companies, financial institutions, and governments throughout the world.

Responsibilities

The Petroleum Geoscientist’s responsibilities will include:

  • Interpretation of basic subsurface geoscience data and application of technical skills.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary geographically dispersed team with other geoscientists and engineers (with various levels of experience) to complete reserve and resource evaluations, integrated reservoir studies, strategic advisory projects, data room, and due diligence interventions.
  • Learning how to use professional oil and gas industry software.
  • Application of reserve and resource regulatory guidelines: COGEH, NI 51-101, PRMS, SEC, etc.
  • Application of critical thinking to review data and solve problems.
  • Working with Mexican and international clients.
  • Presenting Sproule’s technical opinions to clients.

Required Technical Qualifications & Experience

  • 4 to 10 years of oil and gas geology experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology/Geoscience with a preference towards petroleum post-graduate.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Additional Preferred Experience

  • Experience with conventional or unconventional reservoir evaluation and reservoir characterization.
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment.
  • Computer and program literacy in geological interpretation software.
