Geothermal Consultant

De functie:

Wordt onderdeel van Sproule ERCE’s geothermie team en speel een belangrijke rol binnen de energie transitie. In jouw rol als geothermal consultant ondersteun je meerdere diepe aardwarmteoperaties met geohazard monitoring en productiedata analyses, en werk je samen met onze geologen en engineers om het productieproces van geothermieprojecten te optimaliseren. Verder geef je gericht advies aan aardwarmteontwikkelaars in binnen- en buitenland bij het ontwerpen en realiseren van locatie-specifieke én kosteneffectieve aardwarmtesystemen. Daarnaast ondersteun je ons team met kritische reviews van aardwarmteoperaties en geothermische technologieën.

Gedurende het jaar ondersteunt Sproule ERCE’s geothermie team op dagelijkse basis meerdere diepe aardwarmteoperaties (bij elkaar 200+ MW warmtecapaciteit). Dit betreft geohazard monitoring (seismiciteit en bodemdaling) voor zes Nederlandse aardwarmteoperators, en productiedata analyse en systeemoptimalisatie voor meerdere geothermische operaties in Europa. Verder verleent ons team wereldwijd advies- en engineeringservices in alle fases van een geothermie project: van haalbaarheidsstudies, geologische evaluaties, en aardwarmtesysteem ontwerpen, tot putrealisatie, productie optimalisatie, en abandonnering. Van lage tot hoge temperatuur aardwarmtesystemen voor duurzame warmte en/of groene elektriciteit. Hierdoor kom je snel in aanraking met het brede scala aan aardwarmteontwikkelingen over de hele wereld, waarbij ons team je zal begeleiden bij het beheersen van specifieke workflows.

Ons geothermie team groeit, met collega’s in binnen- en buitenland. Echter zit de kern van ons team in Voorburg waar we al meer dan 15 jaar, sinds het begin van de Nederlandse aardwarmte sector, geothermie projecten begeleiden (tot nu toe meer dan 75% van alle Nederlandse aardwarmteprojecten). We werken voornamelijk op kantoor, om elkaar zo goed mogelijk te ondersteunen en directe feedback te geven. Wat ga je doen?: 

Geohazard en Aardwarmte Productie Analyses:

• Aardwarmte productiedata analyses en productie optimalisatie.
• Ondersteuning bij work-overs, en put-interventies.
• Analyse van ruwe waveform data voor seismische monitoring.
• InSar timeseries analyse voor bodemdaling monitoring.
• Optimalisatie van in-house analytische tools (python).
• Opstellen van rapportages en dashboards.
• Ondersteuning van Geohazard Risico Analyses (SDRA – SRIMA).

Geothermie advieswerk in binnen- en buitenland:

• Het modelleren van diverse aardwarmte systemen (Closed loop, Hydrothermal, EGS).
• Haalbaarheidsstudies voor aardwarmte ontwikkelingen .
• Aardwarmte concept ontwerp.
• Technische reviews van geothermische ontwikkelingen en technologieën.
• Ondersteuning bij vergunningen en subsidie aanvragen.

Wat breng je mee?:  

• Sc. in Geo-Energie (bijv. Geowetenschappen, Technische Aardwetenschappen, Geo-Energy / Petroleum Engineering).
• 0–3 jaar werkervaring in de energiesector (consultancy, operator, of service provider).
• Nederlandstalig, met uitstekende communicatievaardigheden in het Engels.
• Ervaring met programmeren in Python.
• Affiniteit met aardwarmte.

The Position:
Become part of Sproule ERCE’s geothermal team and play an important role in the energy transition. In your role as a Geothermal Consultant, you support multiple deep geothermal operations with geohazard monitoring and production data analyses, and collaborate with our geologists and engineers to optimize the production process of geothermal projects. Furthermore, you provide targeted advice to geothermal Operators both domestically and internationally in the designing and implementing location-specific and cost-effective geothermal systems. Additionally, you support our team with critical reviews of geothermal operations and technologies.

Throughout the year, Sproule ERCE’s geothermal team supports with multiple deep geothermal operations (together totaling over 200 MW of heat capacity). This involves geohazard monitoring (seismicity and subsidence), and production data analysis and system optimization for multiple geothermal operations in Europe. Furthermore, our team provides global advisory and engineering services in all phases of a geothermal project: from feasibility studies, geological evaluations, and geothermal system designs, to well realization, production optimization, and abandonment. From low to high temperature geothermal systems for sustainable heat and/or green electricity. As a result, you will quickly come into contact with the wide range of geothermal developments around the world, with our team guiding you in mastering specific workflows.

Our geothermal team is growing, with colleagues both domestically and internationally. However, the core of our team is located in Voorburg, where we have been overseeing geothermal projects for over 15 years, since the inception of the Dutch geothermal sector (to date, more than 75% of all Dutch geothermal projects). Our team works in the office and like to create a pleasant work environment with our team and other Sproule ERCE colleagues.

Responsibilities:

Geohazard and Geothermal Production Analyses:

• Geothermal production data analyses and production optimization.
• Support with workovers and well interventions.
• Analysis of raw waveform data for seismic monitoring.
• InSar time series analysis for subsidence monitoring.
• Optimization of in-house analytical tools (Python).
• Preparing reports and dashboards.
• Support for Geohazard Risk Analyses (SDRA – SRIMA).

Geothermal consultancy work domestically and internationally:

• Modeling various geothermal systems (Closed loop, Hydrothermal, EGS).
• Feasibility studies for geothermal developments.
• Geothermal concept design.
• Technical reviews of geothermal developments and technologies.
• Support with permits and grant applications.

Required Education & Experience:

• Sc. in Geo-Energy (e.g., Geosciences, Applied Earth Sciences, Geo-Energy / Petroleum Engineering).
• 0–3 years of work experience in the energy sector (consultancy, operator, or service provider).
• Mandatory: Native-level proficiency in Dutch required.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Experience with programming in Python.
• Affinity with geothermal energy.
